Week in Review: Top Projects 2010 #2

I was able to organize my life a little better in 2010...I had BOWS EVERYWHERE!
You know it just happens when you have two little girls and feel like you need 1,453 bows :)
Okay...I really don't have that many...but it feels like it :)! I had to get control!

So I took a HUGE canvass...painted it pink...and made rows with ribbon...all different ribbon....Then I collects the 2,653 bows and started to clip them on.....I felt like I could breath again :)!

And in case you are wondering...yes I have added to it...we are probably up an over 5,000 bows...it happens :)!

Week in Review: Top Projects 2010

So...I am not sure how to feel about this year being over. It has been an interesting year filled with so many fun things and so many hard things....here is it in review...

In January I redid my kitchen :)! My mom came and helped out with it! It turned out wonderful! I had so many redo's that went into the kitchen...first the orange hutch....
Here is the before! It was in an old garage at an estate sale...I bought it for $40!
Took forever to sand it down...and then the paint...I chose ORANGE...but wanted burnt orange...with a little bit of stain on top...I got the look I wanted...Do you see the awesome ORIGINAL bead board in the back???? It is my favorite part!

Another project that was HUGE for my kitchen was my table and chairs!!!! I redid the WHOLE thing! Table was given to me...I don't have a before pic...but you all know what it looked like...the country one that everyone starts with :)...still not sure????...does this ring a bell???...white legs....light wood top....yep you all just nodded your heads huh?!?!?!

Well here is is today.....
Here is the after...can you believe I SPRAY PAINTED the table...yep you heard me right...PERFECT...for three small kids :)! The chairs I got at goodwill OUTLET...for $30 and sold the table they came with for $50....so my table and chairs was a PLUS $20 for the total cost :)!

Join me the next couple days for more highlights of 2010!

Flu Bug

So...sorry for the lack of posts! We have had a flu bug in our house...just when I think it is over...it hits someone else. I am the only one it has not hit yet...please say a prayer it doesn't!

So...with the flu bug here is my recommendations...........

I LOVE my shark steamer! Most of the kids have made it in their bowls or in the bathroom...not one though...who had blue powerade....yes....you all just cringed huh? Well this baby...took it ALL right out!

No to mention you must have on hand....

Am I the only one who bleached the ENTIRE house or am I crazy??????

Don't forget this....for all the sheets, clothes, towels, and anything else that can go in the washer!

And last but not least....the anywhere spray! Have you see this? It is AMAZING! I take it to all the toys and things that cannot be thrown in the dishwasher or the washing machine!

So...do I still have friends...?!?!?

Yes, I am a little over the top, but the flu bugs scare me...and I really, really want them gone!!!!

Sorry, for the lack of posting...I may need a week to recover...but I have lots of V-Day projects coming soon!

Christmas Popcorn

Well....the final days are here! Are you ready?!?!?!?

Part of my heart is so sad this is Christmas week! It has been a wonderful season and probably one of my favorite years! The kids are all old enough to enjoy this season!

Perhaps...this year my heart is full with the service I have seen others do!

How can we not love this time of year when everyone is drawing closer to the Savior? That feeling in the air of giving is just wonderful!

Well....speaking of giving I want to share our neighbor gifts with you. It is a tradition every year to make Christmas Popcorn...aka....colored popcorn.

I started with bagging the green....

Then added the red...don't you love it?

And the finished product! Don't you love it?
The best part?.......You could make this for any occasion....ANY color :)
Here is the recipe:
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup popcorn kernels
1/4 cup oil
few drops food coloring (more coloring=darker color)
Put sugar, oil, kernels, and food coloring in a stove popper and stir until popped. Spread out on tinfoil and pick the seeds out...bag and your done!

Yep THAT IS IT! EASY PEASY!

Santa Project

Are we loving this time of year yet????

My home is feeling so festive...so put together...so CUTE!

I LOVE IT!

Well...this next project has been waiting a YEAR to do...yes I saw this on Thrifty Decor Chick last year and knew I HAD to make it :)!

It was an easy fun....NAP TIME....project to put together! If you want to do a ONE stop shop I recommend Joannes. I first went to Hobby Lob and they didn't have everything I needed.

First I wrapped them in red felt.(1 yard was plenty for me). I had mixed feelings about using felt but I LOVED how it turned out. I then put the belt piece on...(you really only need 21/2 inches wide...so don't buy a 1/4 of a yard...it is WAY to much...just saying :)) (Oh and any locals...if you are going to do this...please I have PLENTY extra of the belt fabric...come stop by :)!)
The Rhinestones were seriously my favorite part. I will be honest...I was squealing when I was putting them on...I.LOVE.THEM! (one package of 52 does the trick!, and this was a only at Joannes find)

Next add fur to the bottom and make a ball for on top. The fir I found at Joannes in the trim section. It looks like Santa's beard and is OH SO CUTE! (one yard is plenty.Oh...and take a coupon...it is a little pricey... )

You then have the cutest Santa decor ever! Thank TDC for sharing. I am simply in LOVE! Please do share with me if you make them as well! I would love to see how it turns out!

Friend Gift From The Kids

Now that my kids are 2,3 and 4 they are finally starting to get the whole present thing!

They really, really want to give something to their friends.

So...I came up with something that would not break the bank...and good for all ages!

First, get one of the silicon molds from the dollar store, or target. (I got mine from target)

Second, I had my kids peel each of the crayons and then...break them (that was their favorite part:))

The we put about 4-6 crayons in each snowman head...

You bake it in the oven at 300 degrees for 15 minutes.

Let them cool and then the kids can pop them out...

Aren't they so cute?

Then put a few in each bag...and they are all ready to go!

From Sad to GLAD!

I know, I know,....you are probably wondering what this post is about...well it is about....ONE SAD CHRISTMAS TREE!
Doesn't it just look so sad? I mean to see the wall on the other side...yeah it is sad...

My Dear Husband and I have only been married for 5 1/2 years and we have THREE kids...

I know it is kind of funny!...So...we have had to make due...considering 3 of those years were spent in law

school...and we have only been done with school for a year!yes did you do the math...most kids came in law school:)....and no I don't know how I did it either, but I DID!

So...with that in mind I thought for sure this year we could buy a new tree....you know the BIG one...one that was fluffy with LOTS AND LOTS of branches...yep that one....well...nope....didn't happen because....I am just TOO.DARN.CHEAP!

So I came up with a better idea...I thought I would first try to take a sad looking $25 tree and make it into my big...beautiful...looks like my dreamy...christmas tree :)!

AND I TOTALLY DID!at least...I think I did...so don't tell me if I didn't...deal?!?!?!

So...this post is officially dedicated to all of us with sad christmas trees....and here is my HAPPY tree...I simple cannot wait till tonight to turn all the lights off and stare at it...
So...do you like it???

Here is how I did it...took some $4 (3-4 yards) worth of tulle...$8 worth of berries on a stick (they are only 50 cents-$2 a peice)on the more expensive ones I made 2 sticks each :)!...and $7 worth of snowflake ornaments (they are 4 for $1 at target)...$5 for the big thing on top(sorry I have no idea what it is called. I found it at Hobby Lobby if that helps)...and this is what I got...so people...for $24 I have a NEW.HAPPY.TREE!

The End:)!
