So...You know those doors you knock on and they have the cutest wreath and it makes there door eye candy? Okay, maybe you don't but I have always dreamed of having a BEAUTIFUL door. So, when people knock they want to come in because it is inviting. Well I went to the store and saw that a wreath that was "okay" was $40. I about died. Laugh if you will, but I can't spend $40 on a wreath. My husband and I have a goal to pay two big things off, so that was out of the question. So, as I looked at it I thought...I WILL JUST MAKE MY OWN. I bought a wreath for $2.00 and all the supplies for $7.00 (at the dollar store:)). My friends do you want to come knock on my door and come in for some hot chocolate?
How great does that look? I seriously could sit and look at my door all day...I have even opened it serveral times just to look at it:). I added the vinyl letters to it to add to a CUTE door. I have a cricut and vinyl so the cost of this cute door was under $10:) To hang my wreath I used the trick from the nester. I don't have the link to it...sorry nester...you put fat ribbon around your wreath and use tacks to hang it from the top of your door...I used small nails because that is all I had. LOVE IT!!! I have not stopped thinking about it. I can't wait for people to knock on my door! Do you have a great door you want to share? I would LOVE to see it!
Love your wreath and especially the vinyl lettering - that gave the door its finishing touch. Hope you get many people visiting you so they can admire it all.
ReplyDeleteCute!
ReplyDeleteHoly cow, I can be spacey. When I read blogs through google reader, I don't always pay attention to who the decorating post is coming from. When I read this earlier this morning, I seriously thought it was a Thrifty Decor Chick post. lol It wasn't until you said something on facebook and I came to look again that I realized my mistake. So major compliments to you. Your work is so amazing I mistake it for TDC. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like it's worth $40 to me!
ReplyDeleteLove the wreath and lettering. I need to get mine up and post about it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the ribbon idea. My door hanger thing just broke. I'm cheep to so I end up buying the plastic ones but they always break when the wind gets blowing. I'll have to try the ribbon and tac idea.
ReplyDeleteGreat job with the wreath! Now that’s what I call budget-friendly! It looks great on your door. I think it would have looked even better if the door color was in light crème or beige, instead of white. It would have blended with and complemented the fall colors of the wreath really well.

That’s a really good suggestion for the door, Terry! I recently just repainted all my doors too. They looked great in white, but I felt like they needed an upgrade. Plus, white is just a harder color to keep clean in general, hahaha! I painted the outside of my front door a nice rich blue that goes with my gray siding. It looks a lot more interesting now, for sure!
